Objectives
Improvement of 60ha of priority forest habitat type 9530* conservation status, through sustainable and innovative management practices in favor also of global biodiversity levels and Ursus arctos* conservation status in the project area.
Improvement of Ursus arctos* conservation status in terms of habitat condition and population trends by maintaining of core bear habitat units within the project area undisturbed and by maintaining human caused mortality at a sustainable level not exceeding 4% of the minimum estimated population. Maintain the number of the yearly reproductive females no less than 10-12% of the minimum estimated bear population in the targeted areas (20 ind. within the SCI's targeted by the project and 45 ind. in the area targeted by the project).
Improvement of the awareness level of specific target groups on the added values of both the targeted species and the habitat type related to the area targeted by the project.
Acquisitionof know-how by all relevant local authorities including the park authorities on specific and concrete monitoring and management tools dealing with the conservation and management of the species and habitat type targeted by the project
Establishment and Operation of a self-sustainable unit supporting on a long term basis a certain category of preventive measures (i.e. guarding dogs)
Sustainable management of the national park visitors through the establishment and operation of appropriate supporting infrastructure and facilities.
